I agree, the king and queen concept should remain. It is history and heritage. Now I know why they called her Lady Diana. Thank you for the information. She was a beautiful soul.

Yes Diana was a member of the aristocracy...she was born Lady Diana Spencer and her parents were Earl and Countess Spencer...which is why she could have the title Princess. We all referred to Diana as Princess Diana but her proper title was Diana Princess of Wales.
I feel very proud of my country, our heritage and history. A lot of Brits are against the monarchy and say we should get rid of the Royal family and have a democracy but I disagree. Our Royal family are wonderful and god forbid if we ever got rid of them. The Monarch is only a figure head, he/she can't make political decisions...that's up to the Prime Minister and Government...but it wouldn't be the same without a King or Queen ruling us.
That is interesting, was Diana of an aristocrat family since she was called Princess? I think that you are lucky to live in a country where they have kings and queens. I think that is so nice. Wish we had that, its way more classy.
It was a beautiful wedding wasn't it MGirl...I cried all the way through the ceremony! I'm a Royalist and I'm very patriotic and I felt so proud of our Royal family and our country.
William has been given three new titles by The Queen so William and Kate will have the title of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (England and Wales), The Earl and Countess of Strathearn (Scotland) and Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus (Northern Ireland). The uniform William wore at his wedding was that of The Irish Guards.
Because Kate is a commoner...not born of Royal blood or a member of the aristocracy...she can't be given the title Princess Catherine but she can be called Princess William, her husbands title!
he seems very much in love with her. I believe that this marriage will be a good one and that Prince William has very good values and love towards the marriage. Kate's dress is beautiful, very classy, very tasteful. Is her title now Dutchess? Thats cool! I am sure it is a very fun day in London today!
