That's good in a way, then he can relate to his role in the movieaww, just gives it that special feel to it I think, where some actors never put their heart and soul into a moive unlike Nicsmile

Father's profession helped Cage with role

NEW YORK To help him create his scientist character in Knowing, Nicolas Cage says he relied partially on his own memories as the son of a literary professor.

That was all I needed. I just used my recall to know what that experience was like, says Cage who is, despite his manufactured surname, part of the famed Coppola clan. He is the son of August Coppola, whose famous brother is Francis Ford Coppola. Actor-turned-director Sofia Coppola is his first cousin.

Unlike most of the Coppolas, though, Cages father never dabbled in directing.

My father, I think, they were grooming to be a medical doctor. But he always had an interest in books and just was interested in literature and philosophy. That was his calling, Cage says
