RE: Magnum, PI?

Do you mean David Suchet...the actor who plays Hercule Poirot?...If so he'd be an excellent choice!

Is Rick the blonde guy?...How's about Sam (Matchstick Men) Rockwell?!

Well.....I broke the news this morning to my husband that Nic was in talks to play Magnum, PI on the big screen.  To my amazement, he took the news very well, quipping....."There's only ONE Magnum, Tom Selleck, but Cage could make the movie successful if he's very careful in choosing the supporting cast, because that's what made the TV series successful in the first place.  The supporting cast".

So.....going along with this thought process.....

Who would you guys like to see as Higgins, T.C., Rick and Agatha????

Ya can't forget Agatha, ya know????   LOL!

How about David Suchet or Terrance Mann....as Higgy Baby???

Damn....what an appropriate song.....

To dream the impossible dream,
To fight the unbeatable foe,
To bear with unbearable sorrow,
To run where the brave dare not go.

To right the unrightable wrong,
To love pure and chaste from afar,
To try when your arms are too weary,
To reach the unreachable star.

This is my quest,
To follow that star --
No matter how hopeless,
No matter how far.

To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march
Into hell for a heavenly cause.

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will be peaceful and calm
when I'm laid to my rest.

And the world will be better for this,
that one man scorned and covered with scars
still strove with his last ounce of courage.
To reach the unreachable star.

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go.

To right the unrightable wrong
To be better far than you are
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star.

This is my quest, to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To be willing to give when there's no more to give
To be willing to die so that honor and justice may live

And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.

Liar!  Liar!  Pants on fire!   You WOULD have run off with Nic if he had swept you off your feet.  Or at least.....taken your hubby up on that 'get out of marriage free' card for one night of unbridled passion and nookie!

I'll be honest here.......there was a time many moons ago (in the beginning of my Nic 'awarness') when I dreamt of running off with Nic iwhen he showed up on a wild stallion to make all my fairytale wishes come true.  LOL!

Of course......I think the poor man might have had a say in that and since we never met....well......ya can't make the impossible dream come true all on your own, ya know???  LOL!

Isn't there a song that goes like that?

My hubby has always liked Nic but since they met Nic has really gone up in Pete's estimation...he thinks he's a great guy!
As for the competition thing...I'm sure Pete gets a bit narked at times but so long as I'm happy he's happy and it isn't if I'm about to run off with the lovely Mr. Cage is it!biggrinwink

Um....let's just say that he views him as a sort of competition.....LOL!  But.....he also is the supreme gentlemen and would be happy to have Nic over for dinner sometime.  (Probably so he could see his wife....ME... speechless for the first time ever).....

Seriously here.....isn't anyone else's husband wary of their interest in Nic???

Yeah.....I remember reading that tidbit about Dean Martin owning the house.  It seems to have quite a history with the ladies men, doesn't it???

Oh....and I did think of the Tom connection when you wrote it!  LOL!

I do have to say this (tongue in cheek)....I think that when I tell my Tom (my hub) that Nic is in the running to play Magnum, PI....that he will be spitting nails and swearing under his breath!

Magnum PI was Tom's favorite show in the day.....and to think that my crush would usurp the role?  Well.........let's just say.....he won't be pleased!   LOL!

Do do do do do do.....Yet another Twilight zone moment for you Corelli.....cuz just think about this tidbit.  Nic's Bel Air house (the one up for sale) was owned by Tom Jones before Nic bought it.....LOL!

Earth is a very small place, ya know?

I know what you mean Bon...when I was sweet sixteen I was working in an office just off Regent Street here in London.
Anyways one of my co workers was a lovely lady named Sheila who was 42 and she was mad about Tom Jones!
She even had a huge poster of him up on the office wall!...being only sixteen and into all the latest popstars I thought it was strange that a 42 year old woman was so mad about Tom Jones but...as you always say...go figure!
LMAO!

*Corelli, 40 something, HUGE crush on gorgeous American actor!*biggrinwink

I swear I live in the twilight zone!  LOL!

Your story about the dogs and how your mom loved Tom Selleck bring back memories to me.  Back in the day of Magnum, I shared an office with a woman named Joanie who lived and breathed for Tom Selleck.  At the time I thought she was a silly middle aged woman with a mad crush on an actor.

Little did I know that many years later....I'd be a silly middle aged woman with a crush on another actor!

Hey....what they say is true.....What goes around.....COMES AROUND!

So....here I am...waving the white flag of surrender!   LOL!

OMG...another Twilight Zone moment...also...my darling Dobermann Pinscher doggie Thomas was named after Tom Selleck/Thomas Magnum by my mum who loved Tom Selleck!
We both loved the show Magnum PI and I wanted TWO dobermanns just like Magnum had so I could call them Zeus and Apollo but dad said there was only enough room in the house for one big Dobermann and I said you couldn't have Zeus without Apollo and vice versa so mum named him Tom!biggrinwink

Wow!  If this report is true, it's funky cuz while on my vacation the past couple of weeks, I've been staying at a house that has no TV reception.  To combat boredom at night, I picked up a couple of old TV series DVD sets.  One of them was a 5 disc set of Magnum, PI programs.  Needless to say.....I watched a bunch of them.   I've always loved Tom Selleck.  He was perfect in the series and he's also excellent in a new series called Jesse Stone.....based on mysery novels by Robert Parker.

I'd love it if Nic played Magnum....Tom Selleck was always wearing a bathing suit and showing off his hairy chest.....LOL!

Oooh Baby!  Time to bring out those Hawaiian shirts!!!!

Cage to step into Selleck's 'Magnum,P.I' shoes
Malaysia Sun
Friday 24th August, 2007
(ANI)

Washington, Aug 24 : Actor Nicolas Cage is considering the offer to play Tom Selleck's part in the big-screen adaptation of 1980s TV series 'Magnum'.

The 43-year-old who is known for off-beat projects, has been chosen by film bosses to play the Hawaiian private investigator, the role which had been linked to actor George Clooney earlier.

If the 'Leaving Las Vegas' star agrees for the role, film bosses will start the hunt for his British sidekick, Higgins.

The film project fell apart 18 months when actor Ricky Gervais rejected the role of Higgins.

The flick will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and is expected to be released in 2009.
