leaving las vegas

I love Leaving Las Vegas, it was so refreshing to see a film that felt so "real". One of Nic's best performances IMO. It was nice in a strange way that he did die, and there was no miracle cure. So many films are predictable and finish with the Happily Ever After..........

I love this movie, but isn't it just one of the most depressing movies you've ever seen? Some parts of the soundtrack drive me a bit crazy too.

Cheers Mrs C! I will check that later on. Fantastic song. I have the original by  the excellent Jackie Wilson from the 60s which is great in its own right, but Michaels version is fresher and more powerful, thanks again!

I love everything about this film....superb movie. Went to see it at the pix way back in 96. Touching incredible performances, great soundtrack, a great love story.
Elizabeth Shue is nice to look at aswell

I loved him in it, definatly including how Nic took the role so seriously, even videotaping himself drunk to study how he talks

This is my favourite Nicky movie...as much as I love all of his other movies this just pips them all to the post! Nicky is in Oscar winning form as alcoholic screenwriter Ben Sanderson with Elisabeth Shue as prostitute Sera.

Being fired from his job in Hollywood, and his wife and son leaving him, Ben decides to drink himself to death and heads for Las Vegas where he meets prostitute Sera. The two fall in love and as Ben's condition worsens Sera looks after him becoming his nurse, his 'angel'.

With a moving Oscar winning performance (best actor) from Nicky, Elisabeth Shue in a strong supporting role and filmed in 16mm to give the film it's seedy image and with a fantastic accompanying soundtrack Leaving Las Vegas is one of Nicky's best movies.
