Nicolas Cage's Tight Shoes Halt Filming on Ghost Rider 2

Production on the big budget comic book sequel, Ghost Rider 2, ground to a halt recently because - we're not joking - Nicolas Cage's boots were too tight.
Yes, that's right, of all the things that usually stop a film - eg spiralling budgets, on set tornados, the hiring of Terry Gilliam - this is a first for over-snug footwear.
Filming was taking place in the Romanian city of Bucharest when Cage started to complain of pain in his feet and had to limp off the set. Sounds like he was right back into the action though as on set Doctor, Bogdan Ionescu, summarises: "Nicolas Cage had a foot injury due to his boots. He was treated and went back to work."
Cage is reprising his role as Johnny Blaze from the 2007 film, based on a Marvel comic about a motorcycle rider who sells his soul to the devil in order to save his father's life. The film had a muted reception but Cage has promised a wild ride for the sequel (size nines permitting of course).
Although Ghost Rider is a less well known character, on print he has shared adventures with the X-Men and Spider-Man so perhaps there is the potential for another Avengers style cross over superhero film.
Maybe this faulty footwear story may actually serve as a lesson to all would-be super villains out there... don't waste your time with fancy gadgets or kryptonite when a simple trip to a cobbler is all that's needed to bring a superhero to his knees.
