OMG...I adore big dogs...you must post pictures of Hercules Othello! (Please?). And such a perfect big name for the guy. Greek Mythologies have long enthralled me.
However, I do not envy your pooper scooper duties, lol.

What kind of pup do you have? It's the last twenty-four hours of 2009...good riddance!
Good riddance indeed Soldier Girl!! I can't wait until the bell rings one second after midnight!! Good bye 2009 and don't let the door hit you on the way out!!!
I have a german shepherd/St. Bernard mix. I adopted him from my local shelter. His name is Hercules Othello... He's adorable and peeing and pooping everywhere - lol!!!
I guess we have a communication break-down. I was not trying to point out the vixens way of doing this, or trying to say you should not have your point of view. I like your point of view on things. Maybe I worded it wrong or you read it differently. As far as the award shows, please keep in mind that IMO means "In my opinion", not everyone elses. Either way, please do not think I was trying to put words in your mouth or being rude ok?
YIKES!!! Oh gosh Soldier Girl! I am so very sorry! I never thought you were being rude!
I'm off on holiday until January 4th which means I'm being a lazy bum, lying around the house with my new puppy! I'm totally useless to everyone until January 4th - LOL! I've got to stay off of the computer - LOL!!!!!!!!!
Often times, my passion and compassion can come across as harsh. I must change this in 2010 and moving forward !
I totally got what you were saying. I suppose, I was offering a different perspective coming from a different place.
BTW, I like your POVs as well !

Great words N4L, but you should not have to defend or even explain your point of views. We are all long time fans of Nicolas and we understand (at least those of us on the vixens site) that in life you are going to have to suffer the fools from time to time, even more so when you are well known to the public.
Happy New Year Soldier Girl! I never looked at my commentary as defending my point of view, it stands as is. However, I'm not sure why explaining ANY point of view should be deemed as unnecessary? Everyone has their own way of processing thoughts and information, different from you or any Vixen .
I would suspect, that's part of the experience of writing and sharing in forums. Though, as I am new to the site, I appreciate you pointing out the Vixens way of doing things !
As far as awards go, as I pointed out Nic no longer weighs his performances for the sake of an award but he does understand the business implications behind them. Though general viewers of the award shows may believe they're rather daft, it's the people behind the award shows who are really pushing the buttons and making the decisions as to the future of an actor.
Soldier Girl, in the entertainment world, believe it or not, awards still carry heavy weight with the decision makers and they can still make or break an actor. It's been like this for over 75 years and things haven't changed much in this arena. Is it a shallow way of thinking? Absolutely! But hey, most people IN Hollywood are shallow ! Being acknowledged by your peers can and will open up new doors and create wonderful opportunities that weren't there before. I am positive Nic understands this as he is a benefactor from it.
A couple of years back, Nic was vocal about hating the fact that he has to do press for his movies. He said, he wished he had clout like Jack Nicholson who never has to do press for his movies. Nic doesn't like doing press but he understands the business strategy behind it. The award shows are no different.
Lastly, I am so glad your son enjoyed G-Force! It was a very cool movie indeed!

We are all long time fans of Nicolas and we understand (at least those of us on the vixens site) that in life you are going to have to suffer the fools from time to time, even more so when you are well known to the public. I agree, his work as an actor should not have to compete with legal woes, but then again most people can not see (Think) beyond their noses, let alone out of the box. As far as the awards shows go...IMO they have gone down hill severely over the last five years and I am utterly disgusted with how they determine who should be nominated and win an award. So much so, that I refuse to watch them. And from talking to friends and reading blogs online, I can safely say many others feel the same.
Winning an award today carries not the same prestige and honor as it did in the past. These award shows are more of a game show than venerable shows. So if Nic does not get nominated and win this go around, he should know that to many he is still one of the best actors of his generation and people will continue to look forward and spend money to go see anything he does.
I do understand though that its all well and good hearing that, but nothing compare to the excitment of actually wining an award and holding it up before your peers in victory. That's simply human nature to want/crave that.
That said, I want to give a shout out to G Force! My son and I watched it over the weekend and it was adorable. I did not tell Cody Nic was in it as I wanted him to figure it out himself. And he did after watching the credits at the end and was thrilled and even complimented Nic. That says a lot because Cody has proclaimed in the past that he is not a fan of Nicolas, lol.

Here's my point Corelli and Vixens... I can tell you as part of the entertainment industry, in ANY given year had Bad Lieutenant come out, Nic would have been nominated HANDS DOWN! He would have dominated awards season. In fact, many critics pegged Nic a shoe-in for awards season.
Though some say his Bad Lieutenant performance was over the top, I agree with most credible critics that Nic completely engulfed himself into the role - HE WAS AMAZING! It brought me back to the Leaving Las Vegas days!
Of course, we'll have to see what the Oscar nods bring (I'm hoping Academy members will see the light and be more loyal), but to not receive a Golden Globe nod or even Screen Actors Guild nod, is absolutely mind-boggling when you pit Nic up against actors who were nominated. This nasty business of taxes and lawsuits has truly hurt Nic. After hearing the talk on numerous sets, people who loved Nic's work are consumed and punishing him with the fact that they think he's now a jerk for living beyond his means, not paying taxes and blaming it all on his business manager!
I am one to believe that Nic's personal life shouldn't affect his business life, but like many in the entertainment industry, they have quietly turned their backs, and it's really sad because I can tell you, Nic has been more than generous to many, many folks over the years.
So, in a way, I suppose you're right, his "true fans" will stick by him like the mighty Vixens on this site, and Nic himself, has grown to understand he no longer performs for the sake of an award.
So the issue then becomes "fans" vs. "true fans"... Who has the bigger number? Because the bigger the number, the louder the voice to be heard...
I think I speak for many "true fans", that no matter how difficult it gets for Nic, I - we ... will ALWAYS support him through thick and thin - INDEED!

Well said MGirl.
I agree also, I may not have been around much these last few weeks, but Nic is always there way up on my no 1 list, and we should'nt listen to all the gossip and bad news about nic, some of it may not be true, as you know how the press can hype it all up, We will always be there for him, we are his true fans
What can we do you ask? We can keep the faith and send positive thoughts and vibes to our friend in need. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes...some small, some OMG big. It's part of being human and living life instead of hiding ourself away. Life is messy more than it's pleasant, those who are taking an active part in it will get knocked down again and again, carrying both emotional and physical scars for the rest of it. BUT living a life with battlescars is a life worth living. So acknowledge someones faults and shortcomings, but NEVER judge them or give up the faith. Nic IS a good person at heart, a wonderful be it maybe an misunderstood soul.
On that last note, years ago I wrote a poem or two that I think fits for right now in a way:
Beautiful Friends
Beautiful Friends - I can lay my heart open in front of you, Let my pain bleed thru my two hundred dollar shirt and you still hug me and fortify your love of me
Beautiful friends You see me, the real me without prejudice
When I'm on top of the world your by my side
At the times when hell is in my eyes you wipe the terror filled tears dry
A once in a lifetime bond we share, so alike in our ways
so love laden are our emotions and talks
Beautiful Friends
All that you are, all that you are not Everything I was, everything I will be I no longer have to ask "Can I call you Friend"
For you are and will always be THE ONE, my beautiful friends!

I hear you loud and clear Corelli. Though it's safe to say, when so much negative energy is out there, it tends to turn people in the other direction, including fans (should I dare say it?)
I am shocked that Nic's latest movie, Bad Lieutenant, which was almost a shoe-in for the awards season, was completely shut out, as the Golden Globes were announced this morning. This is really too bad.
Although, I'm truly looking forward to the Oscar and Screen Actors Guild nods, as Nic should have a more favorable chance at being nominated.
All of us at sometime or other go through good and bad times and Nic is no different except that he goes through the good and bad times in the public eye.
Don't believe everything you read! We all know Nic is a great guy and Nic knows his fans love and appreceate him and that's all that matters.
Okay... I'm not sure if anyone else is feeling this but... for the past several months, everytime I open my Nic Cage Google Alerts, I dread doing so.
The past couple of months have been the worst. It's not so much about the news of his financial woes, but about the guy in general. Even positive reviews I've read, somehow, get in a quick nasty jab about the man. What is going on?
98% of what I've read is so nasty, you would think Nic is the biggest scum bucket on the planet or the worst actor in history! And that is far from the truth!
I mean, as soon as we get positive news about his amazing charity work and the award he just received, news comes that Christina Fulton is suing him, which completely overshadowed the amazing work he's trying to accomplish with the United Nations!!! It's terrible!
I'm sick of it. I wish there is something we could do?
