Maybe an impulse buy...or maybe the man is just trying his hand at being a house flipper?

You're welcome Kim.smile

Yes I thought it funny when he bought the townhouse in Bath as it wouldn't have given him much privacy with everyone knowing his address.cryhmm

It's great to hear that at present he isn't selling the castle and wants to renovate it, as it's a beautiful home in a wonderful part of the country, the views and grounds are magnificent
to be honest, with the town home it seemed a little bit crowded, meaning I could imagine Nic wanting his own privacy, and with Midford you would always have thataww, with all the properties that he owned, you really only need a couple, his main residence in the states and one over here when he stays, renting is alot cheaper when visiting other countries. The market at the moment is hit and miss, better to have just a couple of properties instead of them being left standing unoccupied, in which case most of Nic's properties werehmm and then trying to sell them at a profit in this hit and miss market nowdays,

NICe article Lesley, thanks for postingsmile

hmmmm, would love to visit Bath to see Nic turn on the lightsbiggrinbiggrin, wonder how much train fare would be for the day...lol, maybe alot cheaper and alot quicker than by caraww

Nicolas Cage sells city centre home

Monday, September 07, 2009, 12:23

Hollywood star Nicolas Cage has sold his house in the centre of Bath.

The Oscar-winning actor has sold his home at the city's Georgian Circus to concentrate on renovation work at his 18th century stone castle at Midford.

Cage, who has been lined up to turn on the city's Christmas lights this year, bought the Circus property in 2007 and has now completed a private sale.

The house was bought when it was for sale with a guide price of around £4 million and had been on the market for around 18 months before it being eventually sold.

It has a lower ground floor swimming pool, six bedrooms, five bathrooms and five reception rooms and was once the home of 18th century Tory prime minister William Pitt the Elder.

Cage is believed to have sold the home because he was not spending as much time in the property as he would have liked.

The deal will not affect his commitment to turning on the city's Christmas lights this year.

The star is now concentrating on Midford Castle, which he bought for around £5 million in 2007.

Renovations are currently ongoing at the property which will be used as the star's main home whenever he is in the UK.

A planning application has been made to Bath and North East Somerset Council for renovations to the castle which has been vacant for the last two years.

Documents included in the application said Midford Castle was currently in a poor condition and in need of repair to return it to its onetime 'grandeur'.

Cage, who also bought a house in the Somerset village of Baltonsborough three years ago, has two children.

The star won the Oscar for Best Actor in 1995 for his performance as a suicidal alcoholic in Leaving Las Vegas.

He recently provided the voice for Speckles the Mole in G-Force, an animated film following the lives of a group of animal secret agents.

Cage will turn on the lights on Thursday November 26.
