Nicolas Cage has said that he wants Ghost Rider 2 to reboot the story rather than be a sequel to the original film.

Cage plans to reprise his role as Marvel Comics' motorcycle-riding, chain-wielding spirit of vengeance Johnny Blaze in the film, which is reportedly still lacking a writer and director.

"I would like to do a reconceive," Cage told MTV News. "I would like to go in a whole other direction, and I think that's what they're talking about."

According to MTV, Cage wants the film to see Ghost Rider traveling to Europe and teaming up with the Catholic Church.

"I would make it much less of a Western and more of an international story," he said.

The actor is a well-known comic fan, having created his own comic Voodoo Child with his son Weston.
