This is what I was saying MGirl...the article makes it look like he's cutting back because of his huge tax bill...as if!
This is what Kim and I were discussing...buying inexpensive items doesn't always adhere to wether someone can afford it or not. Good on Nicky for buying items because he likes them and not because of how much, or how little, they cost!

same here, I use to flick through their hanging poster frames for ages, I think this is where this picture came from, it's called the outsiders, I'm like you, I think the B & W pics are classy
I don't know...I know there used to be one near Trafalgar Square and another in Charing Cross Road but I don't know if they're still there. Try Googling and have a look!
I even love going to boot fairs, one I sometimes go to, i can pick up some really great bargains, one time I went and I found a huge framed black and white print by Athena Editions, I bet it was well pricey when bought new, I paid £2 for it, I couldnt believe it, that was a huge bargain, as the pic is really lovely
That to me is what I call true british class, not over the top snobbery, down to earth, that money hasn't changed them
Would you believe if I won the lottery tomorrow, I would still look around the pound shop...LMAO, as money doesn't last forever, and with this blasted credit crunch, talk about keeping the moths in the wallet or purse
Yes I like Richard Branson. I remember him being interviewed on a local London news programme when he was a teenager and had just started up his Virgin record company. You could tell then he was going to be successful!
As for Paul McCartney...he isn't upper class...he was born into a middle class family.
I was really talking about people who are born into the upper classes rather than the nouveau riche! You're right when you say Paul McCartney sent his children to state schools. He wanted them to have a normal life as normal as you can have when you're dad is a rich pop star! I remember Paul McCartney saying in an interview that people critiscised him for sending his children to state schools when he had so much money and could send them to private school. He said he couldn't win...people would critiscise him if they went to state school and they would critiscise him if they went to private school!
LMAO... I like the bit where you said, Off to get pissed, sometimes the upper classes can be just as down to earth as the rest of us, and of course, some not so
A couple of people I admire in the upper class, has to be Richard Branson, worked hard all his life to get where he is now, and no snobbery about him, just a really NICe guy.
And another is Paul McCartney, he made sure all his kids went to a normal school, they didn't have the luxuries handed to them on a plate unlike the Paris Hilton type, now those are the kind of people that money doesn't tend to change them, now those are not your normal type snobbery
I've met, and worked with, people from all classes in my time and believe me the worse snobs are from the working classes and the middle classes.
Some of the NICest people I've met are from the upper classes. I'm talking about real uppercrust people...people who work in the royal household...I met princess Diana's grandmother, Lady Fermoy, at a function at Clarence House when I was working there back in the 1980's. She was an absolute delight. I bumped into her by accident and she nearly spilt her drink over me. She couldn't apologise enough and grabbed my arm and took me round the ballroom to meet all her friends! We fed vol auvents to the corgi's and had a great time! That was one of the best parties I've ever been to...full of lords and ladies and palace staff and it was a really good night with the gardener...a lady...grabbing a large bottle of bubbly and annoucning to everyone she was off to get pissed! LMAO!!!
LMAO,, well that is certainly true, or you have what's known as All Kippers and Curtains, think they have it all, but they haven't got a pot to p**s in....LMAO, people nowdays to be true snobs, have to be bred into, let alone in bred
Like you said Lesley simply no class at all, with or without money I think
I've always said money doesn't breed class. It's a sad fact that too many people out there equate money with class but it isn't so. Some people have pots of money and absolutely no class at all! Class is one thing money can't buy!
I think so too, that there is too much snobbery where shopping is concerned, also I think it depends as well how you are brought up, take Leona Lewis for instance, eastender, big name now she won X factor, but she says it hasn't gone to her head, she still shops in Pea****s as she loves the shoes there, now with all her money you would think she would have gone designer, so it's living proof, that proper born and bred Londoners who suddenly come into money, still know where their roots are, and dont often go for the expensive
There are certain items where I prefer the named brand...ketchup, mayonnaise, stock cubes and gravy thickener for instance HAS to be Heinz, Hellmans, Oxo and Bisto...but otherwise I buy the cheaper brands!
There's too much snobbery about where people shop! So what if you shop in Tesco or Lidl instead of M&S or Waitrose...if you like the cheaper brands why not buy them!
Having said that my mum and I used to go to Harrods on a Saturday to buy their freshly baked bread and rolls and they were cheaper than our local supermarket! LMAO!!!
It's true, what we say, look at our convo the other night on the phone, that we buy the shops own brand etc, and it's good value for money, to be honest I don't go for the expensive brand, it's not worth it in the end, if you like the cheaper version and it's just as good as the expensive, why change a habit of a lifetime by going to dearer brands, just as you say the named brands
I agree with you Kim...a lot of cheaper products are just as good as more expensive products...with expensive products you're just paying for the name!
I agree with you there Lesley, sometimes there is better bargains to be found in these discount shops, and do you know, there was a survey done by Which!, that said all these expensive items in the shops is not as good as cheap versions, as they listed some products from Aldi and Lidl's , and they were rated better face creams at £2 much better than the £15 or more creams, so it just goes to prove, that shopping in discount stores are much better than shopping in these big expensive stores that in the end you have nothing to show for your money
I think it's great that Nicky is able to relax over here and enjoys shopping in a discount shop! Like a lot of people I love going round the discount shops and trust the press to make something out of it by mentioning Nicky's recent tax bill and the credit crunch! Don't they realise it's got nothing to do with how much money you have, or haven't, got...a lot of people...rich or poor...enjoy rummaging around discount shops!
That's true, kids love to muck around with boxes, pots and pans, they would rather play with them any day, they also love anything bright and colourful,
You know, as a parent, I don't care how much money you have, when you have a toddler, they do not need expensive toys. They are happy with banging pots and pans around, so shopping for plastic squirt guns is not a big deal. Such ignorance and taunts from the press is only bound to make Nico even more elusive. Yeah..spelling problems again for me! LOL
