I tend to watch remakes as separate films.
Take The hoo ha over the remake of The Wicker Man.
The original is a brilliant film but people tear Nicky's version to threads....they should just see it as a different film!biggrinwink

exactly! I liked both Bangkok dangerous films but for totally diff reasons
both are from the pang bros. they did a similiar thing w/ the eye (jessica alba)
BD, eye, and wicker man i like both versions of each and actually saw the originals 1st.
with wicker man I dont look at it as a remake but a sequel almost and the ending to nic's version actually works with this perspective.  Sobieski's character is there looking for the next potential wicker man.
I also dont compare books and movies HP books are enjoyable for reasons the movies cant be and vice versa

Yes Edward Woodward is in the original....he plays police sergeant Neil Howie.

Nic's character was called Edward Malus and Willow's surname was Woodward!

I have both versions of The Wicker Man on DVD.biggrinwink

Nicky's version is tame compared to the original as the original goes more into paganism therefore IMHO the original explains the story better but having said that I still like Nicky's version and watch it as a totally different film!biggrinwink

I know what you mean, I have nicky's version, and it's completely different from the first, what people have to realise is that, the original was years ago, different actors etc, they think that remakes should be word from word and every detail the same, that never happens, they just try to shoot similarities to the original, not word from word etc and then they start spouting off that the remake is the worse Nic has made, well that lot on IMDB do,

It's right what you say, you should never try to compare the two, just keep them as separate films, which is a good ideaaww

Yes it is an interesting article, and just by reading it, I honestly wouldn't bother watching the original, Nic's remake sounds alot betterbiggrin,
Ok granted, some remakes are terrible, as the originals are much better, but then again sometimes the remakes can be alot better than the original film, making it more up todate, biggrin
Thanks for posting Lesleybiggrin
