You wouldn't believe what I had to do to change the colours of the butterflies! I love butterflies too. So fragile yet so powerful in their beauty.
When I first saw this pic, it brought up lots of ideas about privacy for me. Nic being on a bed, symbolic of privacy, of intimacy. This feeling of guilt that we are intruding into someone's private life. Hence the first pic 'private'. It is like we are all looking through an aperture in a doorway, onto Nic's private world. The butterflies and leaves kind of symbolizes limitless freedom of the outside world, which Nic in a sense is not free to experience in anonymity because of his celebrity status. Hence the second pic 'caged' which is like looking through a prison doorway, the sadness I feel about how Nic is imprisoned by his fame, which he did not choose, the pain of being trapped by celebritydom unable to have the faceless freedom we all have in the outside world outside world.
The third one 'sanctuary' to me is like a heavenly bliss you can feel when you spend time in solitary meditation, a way of looking at the privacy/trapped issue in a more positive light, that one can achieve peacefulness and experience limitless expansion within your own small space and soul, even when seclusion is not a choice, Something which I find a very helpful tool in my own life.
For some reason I've started thinking of the book and film 'Midnight Express', such a harrowing film. There is a scene in it where the main character Billy is doing a yoga routine, salutation to the sun, and chanting "prison, monastery, cloister, cave''.
