Yeah probably about third of what we read is totally untrue, a third sort of true but spun in a certain way/ part true, and a third true.
I agree with you both, it doesn't sound like Nic and a statement like that would only draw attention to it. Maybe it said please focus on the work (Bangkok Dangerous) and not personal stuff and the press exaggerated it!

  the press is really good at making something more than it really is anyway.
I would take what newspapers print as not always so.
