It's funny, but even when I was growing up in Chicago in the 70's.....the talk was often about Capone.  When people learned you were a south sider....it was like 'WOW'.  He was that much of a feared and revered figure!

We south Londoners get pretty much the same reaction when people find
out you're from South London! Lol.
South London, and south east London in particular, has got a reputation!
Some even call it Badlands!furious Lol.
Now you know why we want to move! LMAO!!!!biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinwink

I'm a south Londoner born and bred and even I'm fed up with the place!
The only good thing about it is when people know you're a south
Londoner they tend to leave you alone! Lol.biggrinwink

RE: Al Capone and CHICAGO

Being from Chicago's South Side (not far from where Capone lived) I'm sure I'll be looking forward to this movie when it comes out, especially to see if any of it was filmed in area's I know well.

It's funny, but even when I was growing up in Chicago in the 70's.....the talk was often about Capone.  When people learned you were a south sider....it was like 'WOW'.  He was that much of a feared and revered figure!

Here's a cute story for ya's.

I was 14 and on vacation with my girlfriend Bobbi and her father and uncle up in Minnesota.  The men would leave in the morning to go fishing and she and I would be on our own all day (and all night).

We soon hooked up with two Minnesota studs who were honest to God.....thrilled with the two of us because we were from CAPONE'S Chicago!!!  I guess they saw us as two wild and wacky dangerous half-women!   LOL!

Anyhoo....My guy was named Terry and he was one handsome cookie!  One night we were all hanging out and ended up in a Cemetary.  Bobbi and her guy went off to do whatever and Terry and I found a huge oak tree to cuddle under.  We ended up spending the entire night in the cemetary!  I remember it was about 5 in the morning when Bobbi and I strolled up to our little fishing cabin....and just as we were opening the door....her father was walking out of it with a pissed off face.  He had gotten up to go fishing and finally realized we'd never came home the night before.   OOOOPPPPPS!!!!

Aaaahhh.....the joys of teenage dating!

Anyhooo.....back to Capone and the continued interest in him in Chicago.....Just a couple of months ago we took the kids and a coppola of their friends to a Chicago dinner theater called Tommy Gun's Garage.  Guess what it is?   A take off on Capone and the old time 'speakeasys'.  It was fun for the kids and the dinner wasn't half bad either!  LOL!

Hopefully you can check out this link

Message from Tommy Gun's Garage

Chicago's Roaring '20s speakeasy musical comedy dinner theater

Tommy Gun's Garage is an audience interactive "speakeasy" which offers a musical comedy revue with the gangsters, the flappers and you! After dinner join "Vito", "Gloves", the "mugs" and the "molls" for non-stop comedy and dangerous fun as they entertain you with singing, dancing and a lot of audience participation!
