What I like is that good lyrics can immediately transport you back to a moment in time where you relate to the words in the lyrics. Good memories or bad, beautiful or sad, can all be brought up to the surface when hearing or reading good lyrics (or a good poem, for that matter).

Great song Lowe! It's a favorite of mine too and every time I hear it these words stick with me for some reason...."When to descend to amend for a friend; All the channels that have broken down".
I can easily see why it reminds you of Nic too because it talks of sacrifice, the choices one makes to achieve money and fame, losing oneself because of it and all the downsides that come from that desire.......
